Why would our neighborhood want a web site?

HomeOwners Association Online was developed in order to help promote and improve communications in residential communities, and to provide cross-community benefits of classified ads and business advertising. Your HomeOwners Association Online web site will allow the association to gather and share information with residents in an efficient and effective manner. In addition, it will provide residents with the ability to keep abreast of neighborhood rules, events, and activities. Finally, your site will provide residents with information and coupons from local businesses as well as the ability to submit and view FREE classified ads which are shared with other neighboring communities.

With a HomeOwners Associations Online web site, residents who miss a meeting or a newsletter can catch up and get involved on their own schedule. When it is convenient, they can visit the web site, to read newsletters and notices, view upcoming events on a calendar, find a neighbors phone number in the directory, and more.

How much will a customized HomeOwners Association Online site cost our community?

HomeOwners Association Online provides services at a very low cost to communities, as most of our operating expenses are covered by local businesses who advertise on the site. When your community signs up to become an Online-HOA site, we will setup and customize your site with your desired colors, logo and initial data entry for a one time fee of $500.00. The ongoing costs for your community start at $200 per year, depending on how many households you have in your neighborhood. This monthly fee, which is billed annually or quarterly, can be quickly reimbursed by selling advertising on your community web site to local businesses in your area.

Of course, there is a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with your site.

Please see the Pricing page for a complete description of our pricing plan.

Who makes changes and additions to our community web site?

After HomeOwners Associations Online has setup your basic web site, one or more people in your community become the "Community Administrators". This person or persons will be assigned "administrator" privileges that will allow them to add and maintain all of the necessary information for your community web site. This includes, but is not limited to, adding and maintaining announcements, surveys and votes, new users in the address book, documents, newsletters and much more.

In addition, each resident has the ability to enter classified ads and links to the site, pending administrator approval.

How hard is it for us to make changes to the web site?

HomeOwners Associations Online makes site maintenance very easy with "browser-based" administration. This means that the only thing the Community Administrator(s) needs in order to add and change information on your community web site is a web browser. All changes made by the Community Administrator(s) are immediately available on the web site, no waiting. You can spread this job duty over multiple community volunteers or committees to make it even easier.

How much space or storage are we allowed for our web site?

HomeOwners Associations Online does not impose strict limits on the amount of storage space that is allocated to your community web site. Storage space utilized by a community is, in most part, made up of uploaded documents. We allow communities to use the site to best suit their needs, which may include uploading many large documents. Should the storage requirements of your community web site become excessively large we would contact you in order to help you improve the performance and usability of your site by reducing the size of the information stored. Most communities storage requirements are below 20 megabytes, which is well within reasonable limits.

Can we put pictures on our community web site?

Absolutely! Your community administrator(s) can define picture pages and upload up to 10 pictures per page. This is the perfect place to post pictures of community social events, athletic events, beautification projects, or any pictures you would like to share.

What will the web address of our community web site be?

Your web site will be hosted under the HomeOwners Associations Online domain (www.Online-HOA.com). So, for example, if your community were called "Hidden Creek", then your web site address could be "HiddenCreek.Online-HOA.com". If your community wants to have it's own unique web site address (domain name), we can accommodate this (described below).

What if we want our own domain name such as www.HiddenCreek.com?

If you would like your own domain name for your community web site, we can have your web site hosted under your own unique name, for example "www.HiddenCreek.com". If you have not already registered your desired domain name we can take care of that for you. The current fee for this is $70 for the first two years and $35 per year after that.

Why shouldn't we build our own website?

Many communities have done just that. However, if you look at a number of these sites, you will notice that these "homemade" sites are very limited in functionality. Few, if any, have shared classified ads, shared links, local business coupons, surveys and voting, or many of the other features available with HomeOwners Associations Online. In addition, you will see that most of these sites are stale and no longer offer timely, valuable information to their residents. This is usually caused when the "local computer expert" either becomes overwhelmed with the task of constantly updating the site and loses interest or moves out of the community.

With HomeOwners Associations Online, we have automated and simplified the task of maintaining the site to the point that anyone with a web browser can do it without knowing anything more than how to type and click a mouse. In addition, our staff is constantly coming up with new and exciting features for our web site service and these are automatically available to your community without having to develop them yourself.

Finally, while it may take months for your community to develop it's own web site, a HomeOwners Associations Online Community Web Site is usually up and running in ONE WEEK, often less.

What does HomeOwners Associations Online do for our monthly fee? In other words, why do we have to keep paying you?

Your monthly fee covers several expenses incurred while providing you services associated with your HomeOwners Associations Online Community Web Site. First, the fee helps pay for the cost of the storage space and internet connectivity utilized by your site (the Hosting Fee). In addition, HomeOwners Associations Online is always working to add new features and improve existing features in this web-based program. Your monthly fee covers any new or improved features HomeOwners Associations Online releases during the term of your contract. These new features will be offered to your community at no charge as soon as they are available. So instead of having to buy the latest "version" of our service, you will get it automatically. Finally, HomeOwners Associations Online provides periodic maintenance to the underlying database in order to keep your site functioning properly and efficiently.

In what format can we place our community documents on the web site?

Your community can place documents or images on your web site in any of at least 8 different formats. These are: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat (PDF), HTML, Plain Text, JPEG image, or GIF image. The first four of these formats are viewable with FREE viewers readily available on the Internet. The final four formats are directly supported by all major browsers on the market with nothing additional needed. As other formats become more widely used, we will support them as well.

What if we decide we don't like the web site after it is up and running?

HomeOwners Associations Online is confident that your community will get great benefit and enjoyment from your HomeOwners Associations Online Community Web Site. However if, for any reason, within the first 30 days of service, you are not satisfied with your community web site, we will refund all HomeOwners Associations Online Community Web Site service fees paid and release your community from the remainder of your contract with no penalties. No domain name registration fees can be refunded.

Does HomeOwners Association Online Web sell neighborhood data to third parties?

Absolutely not! Your residents can rest assured that HomeOwners Associations Online will not sell Residents' names, address, phone numbers or other data within the community database to third parties. In fact, our contract specifically prevents us from doing this. In fact, if you choose to receive email notifications from local businesses, we will NOT provide the business with your email address, but instead will email their information to you ourselves.
